Pretty but cleaning grinder is a daily chore

I bought the 700 model last weekend after reading reviews of the model with the carafe (900 model I believe). Since I tend to drink coffee over the course of a few hours, I decided I’d rather have a burner to keep the coffee warm rather than have to use... read entire review

  • Pros: looks, all-in-one appliance, price
  • Cons: grinder shoot is hard to keep clean, water reservoir is difficult to reach
  • The Bottom Line: It's a nice machine but the time you save not having to grind the beans separately is made up for in having to clean it.

Mine Died -- Twice

I'm having the same problem that a few other reviewers have had -- the grinding mechanism burns out after a while. On the first machine, it took from Christmas till about March to go. The Cuisinart people kindly replaced that one ($10 for their... read entire review

  • Pros: Great coffeemaker when it works.
  • Cons: Dies after a few months. Messy.
  • The Bottom Line: I would recommend a less complicated machine. You can get perfectly wonderful coffee if you use a good brand of bean and a drip maker.

Really disappointed in this product

We liked the idea of a combination grinder/coffeemaker and loved the idea of a thermal carafe, rather than a warmer plate, to keep the coffee warm and to avoid breakage of a glass pot. After watching for a good price (this coffeemaker is pricey), we... read entire review

  • Pros: Great carafe. Loved the pause and pour feature. Looks nice. Programmable. Quick brewing.
  • Cons: Easily brews water onto counter. Poor longevity. Loud grinder. Difficult to clean.
  • The Bottom Line: We would not purchase this coffeemaker again. This has been a respected company but this product didn't live up to the Cuisinart name.

Save your money

I bought this model two weeks ago at a gourmet kitchen store. Cuisinart is a reputable brand and this model had all the features I was looking for. After using the machine daily for two weeks, I am already looking for a better coffee maker. Here are... read entire review

  • Pros: Convenient grinder, good looking.
  • Cons: coffee isn't hot, difficult to pour carafe, hard to clean grinder,
  • The Bottom Line: I do not recommend this product: the coffee isn't hot enough, the grinder chute often clogs, and the water receptacle is difficult to reach.

Good purchase

We received this coffee maker as a wedding gift five years ago. We have used it nearly every day since and it has lasted up until last week when I broke the decanter rinsing it out after using it. I will consider buying a new one but since the decanters... read entire review

  • Pros: Automatic timer was nice to set for the morning.
  • Cons: A few leaks did occur when the grind holder came out of place.
  • The Bottom Line: A good purchase if you like the ability to grind your own beans. If not a grinder, a less expensive model would suffice.

Love it!

I had the first model of the Cuisinart Grind and Brew for several years, and while I was happy with the coffee, it came with a price. Taking apart all the parts and cleaning was a pain. Eventually the basket got stuck, so it was time to replace &... read entire review

  • Pros: Great coffee, low maintenance.
  • Cons: Quite loud, takes a few minutes longer, may be too expensive for some people.
  • The Bottom Line: Best all in one I've found, with little clean up hassle.

Grinder Problems

Let me start by saying that this is a beautiful machine. That's where the good news stops. I purchased my 1st unit on 01/25/2008 and returned it 2 weeks later when the grinder stopped working. I liked the way this machine worked for the 1st 2 weeks so I... read entire review

Alyce

My husband bought this coffee maker for me to Christmas 2007. It worked great the first day, and then the coffee shoot jammed up. After taking it all apart and reading the trouble shooting in the owner’s manual; it continued to have the same... read entire review

Grind and Brew Best Ever

I've had two other Cuisinart Grind and Brew machines, neither of which had the stainless steel carafe. The first one was purchased about 7 years ago, the second purchased to replace the first because we wanted to change from white to black. Both the... read entire review
