Oops, She Did It Again...Still Isn't That Good, Unfortunately.

What makes a legend? Raw talent? Great influences? A mastery of media? My guess it's some weird combination of the three mixed with some intangible "X" factor that sucks you in. Most of the big musical acts of all time have had some combination of... read entire review

  • Pros: Some good songs that rear their heads on occasion.
  • Cons: Music that's personality-free, generic and boring, if not downright dreadful.
  • The Bottom Line: Few artists with nothing to say manage to last. Unfathomably, Britney Spears has. This set is worthwhile only if you haven't tired of the hits yet.

Britney's Best Is Still Pretty Poor

In modern pop culture, Britney Spears is an interesting figure. Since her meteoric rise to fame in 1998/1999 with debut release “Baby One More Time”, she’s arguably milked her fame for all it’s worth, and seemed to crash and burn as... read entire review

  • Pros: Four decent pop songs.
  • Cons: Shallow, corporate, uncreative, and badly produced and sung.
  • The Bottom Line: A weak hits compendium from a 'singer' who shouldn't be making music in the first place.

It's My Prerogative To Say This Is A Solid Compilation, If Nothing Else

Just one month shy of her twenty-third birthday, Britney Spears is releasing her first greatest hits compilation, entitled Greatest Hits: My Prerogative. Her career has spanned just five years and four albums, and she's already doing a... read entire review

  • Pros: Nice organization, all the obvious hits
  • Cons: A couple of obvious misses, and My Prerogative
  • The Bottom Line: Perhaps a perfect summary of her up and down career, Greatest Hits: My Prerogative is more up than down. And it doesn't leave you at the altar.

It's Outrageous how this CD is better than Spears' other ones.

Artist History; Britney Spears first broke out in the music world with "...Baby One More Time" in 1999 and was a huge success after performing on TRL in a sassed up schoolgirl's uniform and with her catchy lyrics. She was on the Mickey... read entire review

  • Pros: Best of older albums
  • Cons: Track order
  • The Bottom Line: If you want to feel a bit sexy to some good dance music, pop in this CD. Or if you're feeling sad, it's a good mood setter.

~~ BEFORE SHE LOST HER MIND ~ BRITNEY SPEARS GREATEST HITS ~ MY PREROGATIVE ~~

Don't laugh at me!! Yes, I am a closet Britney Spears fan....THEN. Back in the day, before she lost her mind to KFED, she at least had focus, and did her best with what she had. Now, while this CD has a "New Kids On The Block" sound, the tunes are hyper,... read entire review

  • Pros: Great sound, fun popular songs
  • Cons: Enough already.
  • The Bottom Line: This cd is good if you are in a good mood and want to be silly. It is an "in-your face" dance craze. A bit too much techno for me!

The Britney Spears record

With all the media hype (both good and bad) surrounding global pop icon Britney Spears, sometimes it's hard to remember the real reason she became a phenomenon in the first place: her music. From her No. 1 debut single "...Baby One More Time" to another... read entire review

  • Pros: Every track except for one was a hit single (pretty impressive)
  • Cons: "Outrageous" might be a decent song, but it wasn't really a hit
