Tablets are flavored with pork and liver. This is a generic alternative to Heartgard Plus. Formulated for: Dogs and puppies can take this medication but the need to be over 6 weeks of age before initiating treatment. You can give Iverhart Plus to pregnant/breeding females. How is this medication given? Give Iverhart Plus to your dog once a month (every 30 days) or as directed by your veterinarian. Give this medication orally (by mouth). Tablets can be chewed as a treat, crumbled in food, or given whole directly into your dogs mouth. Each dose should be given on the same day every month. If your dog spits out a dose of medication, go ahead and give another dose as soon as possible. Iverhart Plus can be given every month of the year or seasonally during mosquito season depending on the recommendation of your veterinarian. If you use this medication seasonally, give the first dose within 30 days of your dog's first exposure to mosquitoes. The last dose should be given within 30 days after the last exposure to mosquitoes. Each monthly dose is effective in killing parasites your dog was exposed to in the previous month. If using this medication seasonally, heartworm testing may be necessary before giving a new dose to make sure your dog can take this medication safely. Your veterinarian will let you know how often heartworm testing should be performed. The proper dose of medication is based on your dogs body weight. Your veterinarian will provide you with the proper instructions on how to use this medication. Do not split
