Iverhart Plus is a three-way preventative in one pill .It is effective in preventing heartworm disease because it kills heartworms before they have the chance to develop into adults that can cause illness in your dog. How does this medication work? Ivermectin and Pyrantel pamoate are the active ingredients in Iverhart Plus. Both ingredients work to initiate paralysis and eventual death of the targeted parasite. Ivermectin kills heartworm larvae(Dirofilaria immitus) before they develop into adults that can cause illness in your dog. Pyrantel pamoate works to control and treat hookworms(Ancylostoma caninum, A. brasiliense, Uncinaria stenocephala) and roundworms ( Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonine) which are common intestinal parasites. What results can I expect? One dose of Iverhart Plus works to kill immature heartworms that your dog was exposed to in the preceding month. This medication also prevents and treats hookworm and roundworms infections that can cause sickness in your dog. Each dose of medication is effective for one month(30 days).
