SBTRKT: SBTRKT (w/ FREE MP3 Download) LP
SBTRKT, the mysterious (masked) purveyor of cutting-edge dance sounds, drops his self-titled debut album on Young Turks. The London-based producer's signature sound - swinging, future-garage-infused bass music - has been showcased through a handful of EPs, singles, and collaborations, but regarding the full-length, he says: "This release is the culmination of a longer period of constant writing and collaboration, tracks on previous EPs were written as singular pieces. This record is much more of a whole project, more representative of my thoughts and ideas as an artist and each track was completed with the aim to be coherent together." Check how well the achy vocals mash with the tone of the instrumental on "Hold On(1)." The subtle and sophisticated rhythms and melodies of "Right Thing To Do(2)" as well as the dramatic synths and tribal percussion of "Never Never(3)" are also memorable, but really, there is not a filler in this 12-tracker, so do yourself a favor and grab the album. Highly recommended.

Rewolf By Asobi Seksu Purple Vinyl Sealed. Free Download Of Album Only 500 Made
Personnel: James Hanna (vocals, acoustic guitar); Yuki Chikudate (vocals, piano, toy piano, glockenspiel, percussion).Audio Mixer: Billy Pavone.Recording information: Olympic Studios, London, England (12/02/2008).Photographer: Billy Pavone.Asobi Seksu's fourth album, Rewolf is another step away from the bright and bubbly dream/shoegaze pop they started off playing on their first two albums. Combining the feather-light vocals of Yuki Chikudate, the alternately shimmering and grinding guitars of James Hanna, and a fine ability to craft songs with both sonic and melodic hooks, the band seemed set to redefine both dream pop and shoegaze for a new generation of the genres' fans. Instead, Asobi Seksu reinvented themselves on Hush, stripping away most of the guitars and replacing them with icy synths and lush arrangements. The songs, too, were cold and restrained; most of the color the band had splashed on its songs was drained away and replaced with gloomy shades of gray. The reimagining of the Asobi Seksu sound wa

Washed Out: Life Of Leisure (with FREE MP3 Download) EP
Man, I really love this record. We finally managed to get our mitts on some copies, now that it's on its third pressing. The original pressing is going for over 150 Euros these days, and this edition is limited to 2000 copies, so don't expect it to be around long. Washed Out is Ernest Greene, and this EP of hazy bedroom synth-pop is probably one of the most notable releases of the so-called Chill Wave genre. It's sensitive white boy daydream music at its finest, perfect for lazy summer days at the beach. If you haven't heard any of his stuff before, start with "Feel It All Around(1)" - it's probably the best track here, built from a slowed down italo disco sample and absolutely drenched in reverb. Other favorites include "You'll See It(2)," (probably the only one of these that you could get away with on the dancefloor, and even then it's kind of a stretch), "New Theory(3)," and "Hold Out(4)." All six of em are gorgeous though. Comes in a hand-numbered pic sleeve (how perfect is that cover art, btw?) and plays at 45. Cop this, take a few bong hits and then slip into some mellow 80s vibes; you won't regret it. Recommended.

Teebs: Ardour (with FREE MP3 Download) 2LP
Lush downtempo beats from LA-by way-of-NY's Teebs on FlyLo's Brainfeeder label. Already being very impressed by the 3 track single that was released previously, I had high expectations for Ardour and Teebs delivers in aces. The entire full length is doused in a distinctively laid back and hazy vibe, but executed in a new school fashion. There's a familiar bump to the tracks that resonates from peers like Flying Lotus, Take, Daedalus and other LA beatsmiths, but what makes Teebs different is his delicate and relaxing choice of sounds and melodies (which he flips and loops into beautiful hip-hop daydreams). Check the sound on pretty much any of the tracks and you'll find it is thoughtful and soothing. Highlights include "Arthur's Birds(1)," "Double Fifths(2)," "Bern Rhythm(3)," "Why Like This(4)," "Humming Birds(5)," "Bound Ball(6)," and "Long Distance(7)" with vocalist Gaby Hernandez. 18 tracks total with beautiful artwork from Teebs himself. Recommended.

Anatomy
Limited colored vinyl LP pressing with bonus track and free download. 2011 album from the Alt-Rock band led by singer/songwriter Isabel Monteiro. If you ask the internet the right question, you'll find that Drugstore have been, ahem, kind of a big deal in their time. They toured with Jeff Buckley, who liked them so much he took to covering their debut single Alive. Had anyone actually thought about it, Drugstore would have undoubtedly been branded Alt.Country. Isabel's smoky vocals and pitch-dark lyrical subject matter, coupled with her new band's minimalist, melancholic guitar and string arrangements, stick them firmly in the lovelorn, caustic company of Low, Dusty in Memphis and Leonard Cohen.

The Miracles Club: A New Love (with FREE MP3 Download) EP
Some of you may be familiar with Honey Owens from her turns in genre bending acts like Jackie-O Motherfucker, Nudge, and more recently with ambient/experimental solo project Valet. With The Miracles Club Owens takes on house music along with partner in crime Rafael Fauria. And the results are pretty stunning, well at least they caught me off guard. The first that I heard of The Miracles Club was when my brother had set up a show with them in some dingy basement venue in San Francisco's Chinatown. Apparently they killed it! It's easy to see why form the opening chords of "A New Love (1)", the sax is a nice touch, too. I guess it would be easy to say that this is Chicago house through the Portlandia filter, so I will. But I don't mean any disservice to them. There's definitely some originality brewing beneath the textbook 909 and synth bass. "Summer Of Love(2)" turns up the piano and the acid where "A New Love" left off. Maybe you've seen the video for "Church Song(3)", if you haven't, look it up. You may forgive me for the Portlandia joke. Anyway, The Miracles Club is definitely worth spending some time with no matter what your orientation is. Recommended.

Lee Fields: Faithful Man LP (w/ FREE MP3 Download)
Soul veteran Lee Fields returns with another full album of heartfelt ballads and funky numbers for your earholes. On "Faithful Man" Lee teams up once again with the always on-point Truth & Soul production team of Leon Michels (El Michels Affair) and Jeff Silverman, who provide the perfect backdrop for Lee's raw emotion. From the get-go you can tell there ain't no kind of half steppin' going on as "Faithful Man" sounds like it came direct from the era of the Delfonics, the Moments, and James Brown. A powerful voice like this can only come from experience, and experience is something Lee has in abundance with a career spanning 43 years (and counting)! The rest of the album follows suit with standouts including "I Still Got It," "Moonlight Mile," "Who Do You Love," and the instrumental smoothie "Intermission." 10 tracks of pure unadulterated soul.

OUT & OUT Jazz
This compilation CD (which is also available as a download), entitled Out & Out Jazz, displays some of the very best untraditional Jazz music, recorded specifically for the Arkadia Jazz and Postcards. We chose music that had real appeal to the head, the heart, the mind and soul... music that stirs our emotions with it s colors, textures, density, and space. This music represents the continual spirit of the New Thing. Call it whatever you want: Out, New Thing, Free, Avant-Garde, or Experimental. While some believe this music became extinct, the creative process never stops. It may pass under the radar of mass audiences, but sometimes the most meaningful & intense conversations are private ones. Arkadia Records want to show the world that modern Jazz doesn't have to be inaccessible, hard-to-find, high-priced music that only a select few can enjoy. From Free Jazz to unconventional, this compilation CD, Out & Out Jazz, spans the new part of the Jazz narrative to provide an astonishing collection of Jazz music s provocative side.

Standards
2001 : Following the massive success of their 1998 album TNT, Tortoise del. In and out of print over the past decade we are happy to finally give everyone what they have been asking for - Standards on vinyl again! Pressed on high quality virgin vinyl with the original heavy duty artworked inner sleeve and custom silk-screened PVC outer bag - this repress also includes a free download coupon. The tunes on Standards are direct and immediate, yet they maintain the exploratory edge that has always characterized the group's output. The fusion of instrumental sounds (electric, acoustic, and synthesized) is subtle and subversive. Similarly, the group's fluency within the studio environment gives the finished work a quality that alternates between artifice and reality. Whilst TNT was constructed in the studio using segments recorded, improvised or altered electronically, the Standards sessions began after a period of rehearsal and composition. The contrast, simply stated, is that the studio was used extensively as a compositional tool for TNT, whereas with Standards it was used predominantly as tool to realize and enhance the existing new compositions. The studio does not impose itself on the recording to the same degree we witnessed on TNT, and the resulting record is in many ways reminiscent of their unadorned self-titled debut.

Popsicle Illusion
Daring, intense and full of surprises, Joanne Brackeen's CD, Popsicle Illusion (also available as a MP3 download), sets a new standard with this remarkable solo piano recording of original compositions and classics, creating something fresh with every note that emanates from her piano. Brackeen has been serious about Jazz piano since her late teens, when she became part of the LA jazz scene. She worked with Teddy Edwards, Dexter Gordon, Harold Land and Charles Lloyd before moving to New York. After arriving in the Jazz Mecca, she became the first women to fill the distinguished piano chair with Art Blakey s Jazz Messengers. Before she put together her own group, she also worked with Stan Getz, Freddie Hubbard, and Joe Henderson. Dark Banjo 04:06 -- 10. Old Man 04:52 -- -- The recording of Dark Mean's debut album began sometime in 2007. It's now 2011. During this period band members Mark Dean, Billy Holmes, and Sandy Johnston released two "work in progress" EPs without expectation. Little did they know Frankencottage and Music Box would become the toast of the blogging community, downloaded in over 100 countries, lectured upon by music professors in Brazil, and find the band rousing audiences into massive sing-alongs in cities reaching far beyond the steel cast borders of a hometown, Hamilton, Ontario - all of which motivating the trio as they emerged from the secluded lodgings of Algonquin Park and headed back into the studio, barely aware of the surrounding anticipation for their debut album. An almost eerie level of mystery has built around the band donning such a simple name and even simpler song titles. A contradictory nature begins with the music: whimsical while monumental, traveling between overt classical pop to dream-like ambiance, the band manages to juxtapose sounds and styles without sacrificing personality or coherence, and, perhaps most notably, with uncanny ease. -- -- Sandy Johnston and Billy Holmes, who seem to play anything and everything, are both essential to the band's sound. Unassuming yet intricate acoustic sections, banjo riffs that will make you smile, driving drum patterns that don't hide behind unnecessary flash, and well-crafted arrangements that are nearly impossible to fault are just some of their contributions. Mark Dean's vocals draw the pieces together, and his phrasing and sense of melody on the record is something truly special.

**VINYL EDITION: The original remastered album and bonus audio content issued in a 2 disc 180gm audiophile LP that comes with an MP3 download of all 18 tracks.** MPL and the Concord Music Group are pleased to announce the re-release of Paul McCartney & Wings' iconic Band on the Run on November 2nd, 2010. Heralded as one of the greatest albums of all time, the GRAMMY winning, smash # 1 album - originally released December of 1973 - yielded the immortal title track and world-wide hit "Jet" becoming Wings' most successful and celebrated album ever. Paul McCartney personally supervised all aspects of the Band on the Run reissue. The remastering work was done at Abbey Road using the same team who recently remastered the complete Beatles' catalog. Band on the Run will be available in a variety of formats originating with the single disc digitally remastered, essential 9-track STANDARD EDITION. The original remastered album and bonus audio content will also be issued in a 2 disc 180gm audiophile VINYL EDITION that comes with an MP3 download of all 18 tracks. The musical achievement of Band on the Run is nearly matched by the amazing story behind its creation. Intrigued with recording abroad in the summer of 1973, McCartney searched for a list of studios around the world. Spotting one in the remote location of Lagos, Nigeria, he became enthralled with the idea of recording in Africa. Days before departure, lead guitarist Henry McCullough and drummer Denny Seiwell quit the band leaving the entire project to the three core members, Paul, his wife Linda McCartney and band-member Denny Laine (along with recording engineer Geoff Emerick). Recorded in August and September of 1973 (with further work done at AIR Studios in London in October 1973), they persevered through a tumultuous, yet creatively invigorating 2 month recording process battling difficult studio conditions, oppressive heat and a dangerous mugging at knife point. The thieves made off with the demo tapes (among other valuables), forcing the band to record the entire album from memory. Band on the Run triumphed both critically and commercially. The album topped the US album chart 3 separate times, won a Grammy and went on to sell more than 7 million copies. Upon the release of Band on the Run, then Rolling Stone reviewer Jon Landau famously gushed, "The finest record yet released by any of the four musicians who were once called The Beatles." Paul is currently playing five songs from the album on his `Up and Coming Tour'. Live favorites over the last 8 years of touring have included "Jet", "Band on the Run" and "Let Me Roll It". In 2008 when Paul played a free outdoor show to over 500,000 people in Kiev, a Ukrainian poll listed "Mrs Vandebilt" as their all time favorite Paul McCartney song. It's been included in the set ever since. At the start of this tour Paul added "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five" to the set. Band on the Run marks the first release from the Paul Mc
