The Losers Tampa
The Losers Tampa
"This book was just accepted into the Rock and Roll hall of Fame"    The Losers in Tampa was said to be the top rock n roll club in America by many of the top musicians. It had over a million patrons made up of whites, blacks, latinos, straights and gays. It never could hold all that wanted in, many nights drawing over 2000 people without bouncers. It became a breakout club for many bands, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ted Nugent, Rex Smith, Mike Pinera, Spirit, Outlaws, White Witch, Storm, Eric Burdon, Mothers Finest, and hundreds more. These bands played their original music in an original rock n roll elegant decor created by David Poppe. Changes were made daily. Disco was added and the patrons were spoiled by the best in Disco with DJ Bobby Stoner and the best live music. The book describes several events that will make an excellent movie. The Losers Gasparilla Boat that stole the show from the Pirates Boat in front of 500,000 people. The largest club raid in history with Marshall law, keystone cops, helicopters, and no arrests or citations. An arranged date for Southeastern Conference Football Coaches with two beautiful women. The kicker was they were beautiful boys with long curly hair, implants etc. The results are hilarious, and will have you rolling on the floor. The 95 pages of pictures tell many stories, even the girl boy date is there. Dave Anders reinvested most of the profits in the club to make it an Alice in Wonderland for the students of South Florida, and the University of Tampa where Anders was a football coach.Dave Anders figured out writing this book that the end of the Viet Nam war killed live music, not Disco.Anders also came up with a unique definition of a Hippie was a 16 year old smart enough to know he might be dead in Viet Nam at 18.
