Avenel the Motion Picture -The 2009 Single Disc Release of the Original 2005 Re-Release
Avenel the Motion Picture -The 2009 Single Disc Release of the Original 2005 Re-Release
WE HAVE REDUCED THE PRICE OF THIS ORIGINAL VERSION OF THIS FILM. THE 2012 VERSION IS NOW AVAILABLE for $20.00, with its refinements. The Original 2005 Re-Release Version of the Film, with some voice enhancement. This video is based upon the true history of the home, with the exception of the main character of Captain Joshua Thomas Beauregard. He is actually a personification of Letitia Burwell's undying love for the Confederate Antebellum South. He is the old South in human form. He is based upon several actual visitors to the home, including Letitia Burwell's actual fiance, a Captain Frank Clark. In this film, the actual history of Avenel from 1858 to 1905 is depicted showing the family's views on politics, propriety, deportment, and social behavior. It is a light-hearted comedy in places, as well as a tragedy in others. The events depicting Captain Jimmie Breckinridge are all based in fact, as is the series of events from the Civil War. Some accurate battlefield footage is also used to illustrate the war effort. The reason that the film was made after the releases of Portrait of a Plantation (2003, 2008, and 2009) was because of the real ghost photograph which is shown at the end of the 2008 and 2009 releases of Portrait of a Plantation, the real life documentary of the home. The real life documentary Portrait of a Plantation is also available from Amazon.com under GEORGE ROLAND WILLS - Movies & TVIt was hoped that in the making of this fictional tribute to the Burwell family, more other-worldly manifestations would reveal themselves. None were forthcoming, however. The return of Captain Beauregard's ghost in late 1895 takes place on the exact spot on the porch where the actual ghost was photographed... but even this did not bring out the real ghost, again. The porch was also photographed every November 1st at high noon for several years after the photo was discovered, but she has not been seen again on film!It should be noted that, while the ghost was filmed there, and while the movie uses the porch as a setting, that porch did not exist on the Avenel house until after Letitia Burwell's passing in 1905! Miss Lettie never walked there, at all, until after her death, and then only as a floating ghost! It should be noted that this was the first two hour dramatic film that Confederate Pictures ever made, and it was filmed before we had any computers and voice-over equipment. While Scene Three, the first porch scene with Captain Beauregard and Miss Lettie, has been voiced over for this release, the other scenes all have the original sound... we are hoping to one day get a director's release made with all of the characters voiced over... using our brand new voice looping lab! This product is manufactured on demand using DVD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

History of Motion Pictures - Jam Handy - A Genius at Work DVD
History of Motion Pictures - Jam Handy - A Genius at Work DVD
Jam Handy was a chronic achiever even from his younger years. His name was in the news with seven American and 13 world records in competitive swimming by the age of 19. He won Olympic gold medals in this discipline 20 years apart, and this remarkable achievement earned him a listing in Ripley's Believe It Or Not. He was driven by an innate need to excel, and this trait was in prominent evidence when he got into big league advertising. He placed his ‘A Jam Handy Production' logo on hundreds of films for companies and for schools. At the same time, he was a benevolent human being - during World War II he produced 7,000 films for the armed services, taking only 1 percent profit when the legal rate was 7 percent. From a historical perspective, the interview featured in Jam Handy - A Genius at Work DVD - probably the longest and most detailed ever made with the legendary adman - is quite fascinating. Jamison (Jam) Handy relates various landmark incidents in his prolific career and recalls the names of people who went on to become forces in their own right. For any business media student, aspiring ad filmmaker or sales training instructor, this interview is an indispensable source of wisdom and inspiration. The viewer is finally left with a deeper knowledge of what makes the world of advertising tick - and lingering impressions of a fine and upright man who believed in what he did...and excelled for that reason.

History of Motion Pictures - The Fascinating World of Filmmakers (2-DVD Set)
History of Motion Pictures - The Fascinating World of Filmmakers (2-DVD Set)
Rigors of modern day living seldom permit us the luxury of examining how things work. Not surprisingly, we take most scientific inventions for granted. This 2-DVD set is primarily intended to show you how things worked in a film studio over half a century ago. Although movie technology has undergone a sea change, the fundamental concepts that govern filmmaking have remained unchanged; making this set an invaluable historic and educational treasure. Found here are fabulous examples of early educational documentaries. Riveting clips explain how sound is recorded on film and how persistence of vision is a blessing to motion picture buffs. The beautifully dramatized discourse on preservation of films (Murder on the Screen) brings into sharp focus the passion with which filmmakers guarded their handiwork back then. Also featured here is some delightful slow motion footage of graceful gymnasts, something that may have evoked a great deal of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahhs’ from audiences over fifty years ago. Equally delightful is the revelation of how filmmakers and consumer goods manufacturers harnessed the magical lure of motion pictures to advertise their wares. Among the first to cash in on this opportunity was Chevrolet. Using innovations such as animation, slow motion photography and color films, this automobile manufacturer brought the show room right into movie theatres. All in all, this is an engrossing journey into the world of films and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Star Trek 1: The Motion Picture (remastered) [Blu-ray][Region-Free]
Star Trek 1: The Motion Picture (remastered) [Blu-ray][Region-Free]
In STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, the original crew of the Starship Enterprise from the campy 1960s TV show is reunited in this dramatic, full-length science fiction epic. Admiral James T. Kirk (William Shatner), formerly a captain, is called upon to collect his old crewmates in order to save humanity from a giant, hostile alien vessel steadily approaching Earth and destroying everything in its path. The complex alien life-forms apparently possess such an advanced intelligence that even the brilliant Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) fails to comprehend the massive structure that contains them. There is tension on the ship, as well as in the universe, as Commander Willard Decker (Stephen Collins), the Enterprise's new captain, is relegated to being Kirk's assistant. In addition, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy (DeForest Kelley), the lovable, crotchety doctor who is constantly at odds with Spock, must be tricked away from his life of relaxation to serve on a voyage he wants no part of. It's not long before the Enterprise is taken over by the alien entity, and navigator Ilia (Persis Khambatta) is abducted. When she is returned to the Enterprise, she informs Kirk that unless the entity is united with its creator, it will destroy the Earth. With excellent special effects and witty nods to the old series, STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE set a new standard in sci-fi films--and paved the way for a host of excellent sequels.
