The 4Runner was completly redesigned back in 1996 and remains vitually unchanged for 1997. New for 1997, the 4Runner is available in a new 2WD Limited V6 model and the four cylinder engine recieves a distibutorless ignition system. The sequential multiport fuel injection system has been updated for greater economy and efficiency. The rear door is a one-piece lift-up for improved ease of use. A soft-chip primer has been applied to the hoods front edge and front bumper to prevent paint damage due to chipping from small rocks. The Leather Trim Package is optional on SR5 and standard on the Limited. Power and Convenience Packages are optional on the base models. A Sport Package with locking differential is available on the 4WD SR5 model.
