having nearly lost the 1934 america s cup race to the royal yacht club vanderbilt took special pains to build a faster boat next time around. she was ranger and she dominated the 1937 cup season. the ranger was designed by starling burgess and the stephens bros. who later became famous for their s and s yacht designs. a typical j-yacht crew included some 26 professionals. this model is handmade in wood - plank on frame construction hand tooled scale hardware inlaid deck strips simulate the original teak deck cloth sails and detailed rigging made of wood and cloth. red and white colors. size is 27.24 inches long by 5.51 inches wide and 35.04 inches tall. a beautiful contemporary model. numbered and dated certificate supplied. ships fully assembled
