In 1985, before Metallicaheads were exchanging underground cassettes, (there were no cds then) Metal Church was in a Seattle studio with producer Terry Date, it was the first record for both parties. Hanging in the wings at Metal Church rehearsals was none other than Kurt Kobain...but wait...it gets stranger. When Beyond the Black hit the radio, Metal could never be the same. There has never been a more wicked, dark, intricate and cool recording since. The indescribable voice of David Wayne has persevered making his best solo outing to date with Metal Church aptly named as it truly picks up where Metal Church left off. Metal Church went on to influence every band you can think of from Iron Maiden to Metallica to Megadeth and beyond. Sadly as a band Metal Church no longer exist but their spirit lives on in David Wayne's final opus along with ex-Metal Church guitarist, Chris Wells, the band on this album shows exactly how ass kicking metal should be played. Songs like the opener The Choice, the catchy The Hammer Will Fall and DSD are immense songs in the tradition of the old classics, while Wayne's distinctive vocals are better than ever and with the help of some excellent production manages to combine the spirit of the past with todays metal sound. Metal Church has sold out around the world in stores since its initial release in 2001. Metal Church was produced by longtime collaborators Warren Croyle and Joe Floyd (Halford, Dickinson, Godhead, House of Lords, Downset, WASP, Marcy Playground). This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media.
