Gore Bike Wear's Countdown apparel line is concentrated on the versatility required for all-mountain trail riding. Along these lines, each piece is focused on providing the right tool for the task at hand. And in the case of the Countdown 2.0 Summer Gloves, Gore focused on providing heightened levels of breathability, flexibility, and shock absorbency. To achieve this, Gore applied the materials wizardry with which its name is synonymous. Starting at the back of hand, Gore placed a sophisticated blend of nylon and elastane. Accordingly, this provides an ample level of stretch that's at once lightweight and breathable. So, dexterity is assured without the risk of over- or underwhelming element protection. Furthering this principle of thermo-regulation, Gore also placed ventilation holes along the inner-side of the fingers and hand. So, breathability remains constant, even when your body temperature starts to rise. However, given the Countdown's intended application, durability played a key role in the design phase. Along these lines, Gore strengthened the material between the thumb and forefinger, knowing that this is a common stress point while gripping the bars. Additionally, the closure system features a Velcro width adjustment strap that's been cleverly placed inside of the wrist, instead of at the common articulation point directly under the palm. To absorb trail chatter, these gloves feature a rather involved design at the palm. At the first layer, Gore placed a layer of foam padding. This layer has a variable density, meaning that it's either thicker or thinner depending on its location. So, you gain a reliable level of grip without compromising any absorbency. Furthering this concept, the gloves also feature a section of gel padding at the heel of the palm -- a common point of distress while encountering big hits. And for even more grip to the bars, Gore lined the palm with a rather sticky silicone print. Easing entry and exit, you'll find that Gore in...
