Sometimes you need rain protection, and sometimes you don't. The Gore Bike Wear Power AS Men's Jacket ditches the Power GT AS jacket's Gore-Tex waterproofing fabric in favor of a lighter, non-waterproof Windstopper fabric that still protects from a light rain, but also saves some dollars and weight in the process. The Gore Bike Wear Power AS jacket employs Gore's Windstopper Active Shell fabric for the paneling, which is especially good at blocking the wind while still being breathable and light. While not as water-resistant as the Gore-Tex fabric used in the more expensive Power GT AS jacket, it's more than ready to fend off a light mist. Like the GT, however, the jacket is light and packable, making it practical, too. The Power AS jacket's fit and function are as dialed as its fabrics, as well. Gore Bike Wear describes the fit as slim, which means that it stays close to the body without being constricting. The elbows are pre-shaped so that they don't tug at the underarms when you reach for the handlebars. Gore took a minimalist approach when designing the Power AS jacket, so there's only one zippered pocket placed on the lower back panel. Within this pocket, there's a detachable storage bag (LOKSAK) for sealing off your electronic devices from the elements. The cuffs are adjustable, and there's a partially elasticized hem. And because rainy conditions are often low-light conditions, the Power AS Jacket has reflective front and back logos. The Gore Bike Wear Power AS Jacket is available in five sizes, from Small to XX-Large, and the colors Brilliant Blue/Black, Splash Blue/Black, Blaze Orange/Black, Fresh Green/Black, Red/Black, and Black.
