1GB SDRAM technology offers fast, high-bandwidth memory that is designed, engineered and tested to work with high-performance chipsets and processors. SDRAM memory synchronizes with the computing system s clock that controls the CPU. This synchronization reduces access time delays and improves overall processor efficiency. Exclusive to the x440 server, this option, when used in a normal four-way parallel interleaving system by combining four SDRAM DIMMs on each memory bank, provides up to 3.2GBps for each memory access. This 1GB SDRAM option on the x440 goes one step further and combines cache line interleaving across two separate four-way parallel interleaves to provide a total of up to 6.4GBps of memory bandwidth for each processor complex.
