Mizuno Wave Hitogami : Low and lean, Mizuno Wave Hitogami running shoes deliver an efficient and stable ride that delivers the confidence to run fast. Replacing both the Wave Musha and Wave Ronin, these shoes are lightweight and fit securely around your feet. The vivid design is inspired by Kabuki theater face paint that transforms actors into Hitogami, which means Human Gods. Upper: AIRmesh™ upper enhances airflow and flexibility. Synthetic overlays deliver lightweight support. Lightly padded tongue and heel collar enhance instep comfort. Lace-up front provides an adjustable fit. Midsole: Mizuno Wave Plate dissipates impact forces away from the foot for a smoother, more cushioned feel on every step. Parallel Wave in the heel disperses shock and provides lightweight cushioning and enhances stability. U4iC midsole provides resiliency and a smooth ride at a fraction of the weight of traditional midsoles. Removable insole. Outsole: X10® durable carbon rubber outsole allows for longer wear in high impact areas and supplements traction at heel strike. SmoothRide Engineering™ minimizes the rapid acceleration and deceleration of the foot during transition, creating the smoothest ride possible. Runner's World Best DebutSummer Shoe Guide 2014Mizuno continues to consolidate its offerings with good success. Previously, it killed both the Wave Precision and Wave Elixir—lightweight trainers—and replaced them with the Wave Sayonara, which we awarded Best Debut last fall (September 2013 issue). The all-new Hitogami replaces two lighter, race-ready shoes—the Wave Musha and Wave Ronin. While this shoe is slightly heavier than both of those, its firm cushioning makes it well suited for middle-distance races. 'I could run a fast 5-K or 10-K in them, but I don't think I'll wear them in races longer than that,' says David Alm, a speedy runner from New York City who has also written articles for this magazine. The company's signature Wave plate extends only under the heel and arch, allowing the forefoot to remain close to the roadway for a responsive feeling.
