MTX took what was already considered one of the top subwoofers on the competition circuit and made it even better! The new Thunder8000 series features Spider Plateau Venting for cooler voice coil operation and greater reliability during heavy bass passages. Instead of pushing and pulling super-heated air over the voice coil like conventional, rear vented subwoofers, Thunder8000s shed the heat out the sides of the new dual layer spider. Asymmetrical Linear Drive (ALD) technology, used on all MTX Audio Thunder subs, provides high output with low distortion, thanks to flat progressive spiders and extended pole pieces. These subs are packed with features to help dissipate heat and deliver thunderous bass output. Thunder8000 subs have rugged die cast frames, enormous 102 oz. magnet structures, and 2 1/2" high temp, 4-layer voice coils. Also new for this year are aluminum deposited cones, terminals incorporating a strain relief, and new coaxial tinsel leads for improved reliability. \n
