From Royal Copenhagen, the motif on this year's Christmas plate is The Little Mermaid, designed by Sven Vestergaard, and celebrating her centennial anniversary in 2013. She was created by the sculptor Edvard Eriksen and has been displayed since 1913. She bids travelers welcome from her home at the Copenhagen waterfront, the Langeline. Her gaze is turned towards the vista of the sea where the majestic Dannebrog, the royal yacht, lays at anchor. Landwards, we see the faint outline of Copenhagen's proud historical buildings; the Stock Exchange, the Church of Our Savior, the Town Hall and the Round Tower. Handcrafted in Denmark. 7 in diameter.
