Sanuk is commited to a future where their footprint on the environment shrinks to a size: 4! This not only saves heaps of trees, it also allows them to ship twice as many in the same space as boxed shoes. By cutting their shipping size in half they also cut their fuel and freight usage in half. Sandal hangers are now made from recycled cardboard instead of plastic. Instead of boxes, shoes are packed in bags made of cornstarch which decompose quickly. Sanuk is also starting to use a new material called Trelon, which is a natural rubber substance, instead of EVA. Features of these shoes: Side walk surfers are sandal lowers with a deconstructed shoe type of upper. The upper is attached to the lower in a way that none of the components of a shoe are used.
