Upon initial inspection, the Selle SMP saddles may not look like they would be your first choice in comfort. But, looks are deceiving, and once you try it, the Glider saddle may just end up being your favorite saddle. They aren't the lightest saddle on the market, but they have been developed and produced after careful consideration of how the body actually interfaces with the bike, and if you are going to spend countless hours in the saddle, comfort trumps weight. The Glider, as with all SMP saddles, features a drop beak-shaped nose which relieves pressure from soft tissue regions. This design also means that when you ride, it's easier to roll forward and keep a flat back. The paddle (widest part of the saddle) has been slightly elevated so that you have something to push on when you climb or take off in the break away. The center of the 136mm wide saddle features a wide cut out which eliminates pressure in the perineal zone. It also keeps all your bits from getting crushed. That highly technical term is being used all inclusive of the male and female anatomy. Eliminating pinching means The saddle is built upon traditional steel rails and a nylon/carbon fiber composite shell. You won't need to worry about your saddle being able to handle daily grind-fests without collapsing. Additionally, the padding is a foamed elastomer so that it holds its shape. The cover is leather. The Selle SMP Glider Saddle is 136mm x 266mm and comes in Red, White, or Black.

Selle SMP saddles were designed with the overall objective of reducing pressure on the perineum and the pressing of neurovascular structures while riding. This is achieved through the Italian manufacturer's innovative designs and relentless research and development, with the Pro model leading the charge in this SMP4BIKE saddle collection. The Pro is best suited for cyclists with medium-wide and wide pelvises, as it features a longer and wider body than other models in this range. It wears the distinct curvature and support features inherent to this group of saddles, with the characteristic beak shaped nose designed to provide a flat base while sitting, without excessive pressure on the genital area. SMP's pronounced central channel was also incorporated, which further reduces pressure on the pudendal nerve and surrounding soft tissue. The back of the saddle is raised for an enhanced seated pedaling position, where body weight is divided between the rear and lower part of the ischial tuberosity region. This shape also helps reduce overall pressure on the coccyx while riding over rough surfaces. The saddle's foam elastomer padding gets wrapped in leather for the black version and a durable Lorica microfiber in the colored version. Its durable nylon/carbon composite shell rides on stainless steel rails, ensuring a secure perch that'll hold up for both road and mountain applications. The Selle SMP Pro is available in one size (278 x 148mm) and in the colors Black, Red, and White. The Pro is handmade in Italy and has a claimed weight of 315 grams.
