The Winters P1S 100 series steel case pressure gauge has brass wetted parts, a circular dial, a lower mount male connection with 1/4 NPT rate, and measures pressure with a dual scale (psi/kPa)/(Hg. vacuum/kPa) with a display accuracy of + or - 1%. The brass wetted parts are for measuring non-corrosive liquid and gas pressure. The circular dial is white aluminum, 3.5 (90 mm) or 6 (150 mm) in diameter, and enclosed in a steel case that is painted black and Ingress Protection certified IP52 for protection against dust and liquids. The dial has an adjustable black aluminum pointer and the lens is glass for clarity. The gauge measures pressure with a dual scale of psi/kPa or Hg. vacuum/kPa. The gauge is accurate to + or - 1% over the entire range of the gauge, or American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) B40.100 Grade 1A accuracy class. The male connection is mounted on the bottom of the gauge and has a 1/4 NPT (National Pipe Thread) rate. The ring for the 3.5 diameter gauge is polished brass. The ring for the 6 diameter gauge is steel painted black. The bourdon tube is phosphor bronze and welding is silver alloy. The over-pressure limit is 25% of full scale value and the working pressure is a maximum of 75% of full scale value. The operating temperature is -40 to 200 degrees F (-40 to 93 degrees C). This pressure gauge is suitable for plumbing and heating.Pressure gauges are instruments used to measure the pressure of a gas or liquid inside a vessel and, often, to help ensure the optimal amount of pressure for a given application. Pressure gauges can range from everyday instruments, such as those used to measure the air pressure in a car or bicycle tire, to highly accurate gauges used in mechanical and industrial processing. Most often, pressure gauges measure pressure relative to another reference. For instance, gauge pressure measures pressure relative to ambient air. An example of a pressure gauge measuring relative to ambient air is a tire pressure gauge or a blood pressure gauge. Differential pressure is the difference in pressure between two points, such as when measuring liquid flow along various points in a pipeline. An absolute pressure gauge measures pressure relative to a perfect vacuum, such as an atmospheric or barometric pressure gauge. All types of pressure gauges include either a male or a female mount to connect to the vessel where pressure is being measured, and display results on a dial with varying increments of measure across a given range.Winters Instruments manufactures pressure gauges, thermometers, diaphragm seals, pressure transmitters, and switches. The company, founded in 1953, is headquartered in Toronto, Canada.

Coming to grips with the Sword's unlikely genesis in the alternative music Mecca of Austin, TX, leads one to wonder whether heavy metal has finally become hip again. Depending on your generation, nothing will seem as simultaneously preposterous (Gen-X'ers who came of age during pop-metal's heyday and don't recognize it as an unrepresentative anomaly) or obvious (everyone else) when discussing a genre that's spent the bulk of its 35-year history on the absolute fringe of rock culture. If that isn't alternative, well, what is? In any case, glorifying heavy metal's prototypical qualities is exactly what the Sword is all about, and their 2006 debut, Age of Winters, sees them joining California's High on Fire, Sweden's Witchcraft, and Australia's Wolfmother (to name but a few) at the forefront of what's gradually become known in the mid-'00s as the heritage or retro-metal movement. No, not stoner rock -- that's sooo ten years earlier! The only thing the Sword and their ilk have in common with most '90s stoner rockers is recognizing that all heavy metal empires are sprung from the Black Sabbath cornerstone, and the token signs can be readily heard in these songs' ominous doom chords (just listen to opener Celestial Crown and Lament for the Aurochs), pummeling, down-picked staccato riff-runs (Barael's Blade, Ebethron), lyrics about fantasy and legend (Freya, The Horned Goddess, etc.), and, finally, those borderline-inadequate, zombie vocals first made acceptable by Ozzy himself. The Sword's singer, JD Cronise, is certainly guilty of the latter, but then that only helps to focus one's attention upon the album's main attraction: its megalithic guitar work. For the record, the Sword spins the evolutionary clock as far forward as '80s thrash, on occasion, resulting in colossal, galloping onslaughts such as Winter's Wolves (complete with howling wolves, naturally) and Iron Swan (prefaced by delicate melodies of a medieval feel). Yes, you'll probably have to be a certified, stainless steel metalhead to really appreciate the skyscraping riff constructions of March of the Lor (an instrumental in eight movements!), but the vast majority of what's on-hand proves remarkably well-balanced and almost suspiciously immediate to the ears. As such, Age of Winters provides neophyte (errr -- alternative?) listeners with as good an entryway as any into the retro-metal universe, while also managing to sound refreshing even to calloused heavy metal ears -- this is no small achievement. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, Rovi

Michael Manring was a student of bass legend Jaco Pastorius. In 1979 he began his long-term collaboration with the late guitar genius Michael Hedges and subsequently appeared on all but one of Hedges seven recordings. In 1982 he became the house bassist at Windham Hill records; this led to a solo deal with Windham Hill in 1984 and a move to the San Francisco Bay Area where he still lives. He has released six albums of his own and appeared on well over three hundred albums as a session musician in genres ranging from New Age to avant-garde jazz to folk to experimental rock. Michael has also released three instructional videos detailing his innovative approach to the bass as well as a complete transcription book of his album, Thonk. He has toured throughout the world as a leader, a sideman and in his unique solo bass performances. Other artists he has worked with include Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs), Suzanne Ciani, Will Ackerman, Tim Alexander (Primus), Larry Coryell, Alex Skolnick (Testament), John Gorka, Thomas Dolby, Henry Kaiser and Patty Larkin, He has two gold records to his credit, has been nominated for Grammy and Bammie awards, received the Berklee School of Music Distinguished Alumni Award, received two Just Plain Folks Awards and in 1994 the readers of Bass Player magazine voted him Bassist of the Year, thus making him ineligible for future consideration. Michael was also the subject of a 1998 PBS documentary called, The Artists Profile: Michael Manring. He has been called the bassist with the most fresh and inventive playing today (Musicien magazine, France), a virtuoso electric bassist whos almost single-handedly re-defined the outer limits of the instrument (San Jose Mercury News) and a master of the fretless bass without rival (Guitar Club magazine, Italy). ***** Kevin Kastning has composed over 200 works for various solo and chamber group instrumentations. Guitar Player magazine said of Kevin, Kevin is one of the deepest guitarists I ve ever encountered. Kevin is a recording artist for Greydisc Records, and has recorded albums with Alex De Grassi, Michael Manring, Mark Wingfield (UK), Siegfried, Sandor Szabo (Hungary), Gilbert Isbin (Belgium), and Carl Clements. Kevin s albums consistently receive very strong reviews from music magazines worldwide; as well as international radio airplay. Kastning s 2007 Greydisc release, Resonance placed in The Perfect Sound magazines Top 10 Albums of 2007, and his 2009 Greydisc release Parabola, was named by NPRs Pushing the Envelope as one of The Best Albums of the Year for 2009. Kastning s 2011 Greydisc release, I walked into the silver darkness was named as a Favorite of 2011 by New York City s WFMU-FM. In October 2004, Kevin was voted Artist of the Month by the 13th Fret, the world s largest acoustic guitar forum. In November 2007, Yankee Magazine stated, Kastning is a pioneer in modern acoustic guitar composition. Gondola Magazine (Hungary) stated, Kevin Kastning is a new figure of the American guitar scene; it is not an exaggeration that he is the most modern guitarist now in the US. In late 2009, Kevin completed a successful European concert tour with Dominic Miller, guitarist with Sting. Mr. Miller calls Kevin An amazing player; completely original. In December 2010, Kevin was honored with a feature article in Guitar Player magazine, and again in September 2011. Kevin is an artist endorser for Santa Cruz Guitars, and is the inventor of the DKK extended baritone guitar, the DKK-12 12-string extended baritone guitar, the double-course alto guitar in A, and his main instrument: the 14-string Contraguitar.

Bill Jones has quickly come to occupy a place in British folk music similar to Kate Rusby. She's very much at home with traditional songs (and music, since she's a very capable multi-instrumentalist), giving them an intimate, contemporary feel without ever losing their history, and she's also an excellent songwriter whose pieces fit in perfectly well with the continuum of folk. Two Year Winter (which comes with the four-track Bits and Pieces EP as a second lovely disc) shows how she's continuing her rapid growth. She's also learned to pick work from other writers, like From My Window, which opens the record, or Pete Morton's wonderful The Two Brothers, letting them sit very comfortably next to ballads like The Holland Mistress, whose jaunty tune belies its dark subject matter. Slightly more problematic are her two collaborations with Annie Hills, whose lyrics run to the ostentatiously poetic at time, coming across as forced in comparison to the easiness and flow of the other material. However, that aside, Jones doesn't put a foot wrong. Hey Away is a wonderful and truthful piece from Geordieland, The Lover's Ghost comes from the eerie tradition of night-visiting songs, and Bide, a variant on The Two Magicians, is gloriously understated. The instrumental sets glisten, especially Diddling Set, where she assays some mouth music, acquitting herself very well. Artists like Jones and Rusby are inclusive rather than exclusive, drawing people gently into folk music. They're to be applauded for it. With this, Jones does a superb job. The only question now: How much better can she become? ~ Chris Nickson, Rovi
