Coco Before Chanel
Coco Before Chanel is nominated this year for Best Costume Design. Directed by Anne Fontaine, this film explores the woman behind the Chanel brand and is set a few years after Coco leaves an orphanage. She becomes both a seamstress for performers in a local bar and a singer. A romantic liaison introduces her into French society, where she starts designing hats. From there, a love interest opens more opportunities in the fashion world.
