New Balance 1500 Rainier
If Peggy Hill wanted the right hiking boot, Backpacker would recommend the New Balance 1500 Ranier. In case you don't watch "King of the Hill," the otherwise tiny Peggy has Yeti-sized feet that are hard to fit. Or maybe your feet are more like Fred Flinstone's wide enough to power a pre-historic stone car. Either way, this Backpacker Editor's Choice "changes everything for the hard-to-fit crowd." Aside from a few minor issues, the 1500 Ranier is a "classic midweight, ideal for backpacking with moderate loads and dayhiking in rough-and-wet terrain."
