Dexter: The Fourth Season
We decided to nix our cable a while ago, and while we don't really miss it, it does mean that we have to wait a while to watch our favorite cable shows. And we're so glad that Dexter: The Fourth Season is now out on DVD, because we've had to plug our ears each time we've heard anyone talking about the show to avoid any spoilers. We're looking forward to seeing Dexter's role as... more
Mad Men: Season 1
The fourth season of Mad Men premieres on AMC on July 25th, so that gives you a little less than a week to catch up on the first three seasons. If you haven't had a chance to find out what all the hype is about, the first season is a good place to start. Mad Men: Season 1 sets the scene for the popular series and introduces us to Don Draper, a successive ad... more
Amélie
Whenever we think of the Tour de France, we think of a scene from our favorite movie, Amélie, where she records footage of the horse running in the annual bicycle race to send to her reclusive neighbor. This classic movie tells the story of a shy waitress in the Parisian town of Montmartre who sets out to change the lives of those around her for the better, while dealing with her own feelings... more

Yojimbo and Sanjuro
Were big fans of the Japanese director, Akira Kurosawa. His films were revolutionary for his time, and his influence can be seen in modern-day directors like Quentin Tarantino. We just recently watched Seven Samurai for what seems like the hundredth time, so we were excited to get our hands on the Criterion Collection versions of Yojimbo and Sanjuro. The DVD set features both films presented in a fully-restored, high-definition format. Each film comes with... more
Knight Rider: The Complete Series
Nearly 20 years after it first aired, we still wish we had a high-tech talking car like K.I.T.T. Well have to settle for our boring old Honda, but at least we can relive our car fantasies with Knight Rider: The Complete Series. Perfect for the dad that grew up watching the television series in the eighties, the DVD set includes all four seasons (84 episodes) that star a pre-Baywatch David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight.
Complete Series of The Wire
Though never a popular show in the ratings, The Wire has been deemed one of the best shows on television by many critics. But now you can judge it for yourself with The Wire: The Complete Series. Set in Baltimore, Maryland, the series focuses on different aspects of the city and how they are all intertwined, including the illegal drug trade, the port system, the city government and bureaucracy, the school system, and the... more
Easy Rider
A revered actor, Dennis Hopper's film career spanned more than fifty years, and included roles in such movies as Rebel Without a Cause, Apocalypse Now, and, our personal favorites, Cool Hand Luke and Blue Velvet. But fans know him best as Billy in the 1969 film, Easy Rider. The movie, directed and co-written by Hopper, tells the story of two bike-riding drug dealers in search of financial and spiritual freedom.

An Education
While, to us, Carey Mulligan will always be Sally Sparrow from Doctor Who, she certainly comes into her own playing a young girl that is seduced by an older man in An Education. Mulligan plays Jenny, a middle-class British schoolgirl charmed by a small-time criminal in this funny, smart, and compassionate movie. The script was adapted by Nick Hornby, whose novels High Fidelity and About a Boy have been made into movies.
Sherlock Holmes
Your favorite detective is back in a whole new light. In this version of Sherlock Holmes, Guy Ritchie presents Holmes (played by the wonderful Robert Downey Jr.) as a brawny action hero. Together with his sidekick, Dr. Watson (played by Jude Law), the engaging pair battle Lord Blackwood, who has emerged from the tomb to assert his deadly will over 1890 London. Starring Laurence Olivier, Maggie Smith, Harry Hamlin and Ursula Andress, the film has heroes, villains, and mechanical monsters. What more could you want?
