We know a few women who saw the Sex and the City movie more than once, just so they could get another look at all the fabulous shoes, clothes, and handbags (the 3 stars of the movie). Now that the movie is out on DVD, they can watch it as often as they want - and press the pause button whenever they need to get a better look at an outfit. The DVD features... more
Backpacker magazine recently did a feature on how to make perfect coffee while camping. The MSR MugMate got high marks because it's so small and easy to use. The MugMate weighs less than an ounce and works for both coffee and tea. Just put it in your cup, load it up with your favorite (ground) coffee beans, and pour in hot water. No muss, no fuss, no filters. And you can store the MugMate... more

Instead of tossing your guests a 6-pack of Budweiser, why not serve them a decent pilsner in a proper glass? Designed for beer aficionados, Mikasa's "Brewmaster's Collection" consists of 4 different 4-piece sets: Wheat glasses, pilsner glasses, varietal glasses, and a flight set (6-ounce glasses), shown here with the accompanying dark wood caddy. All glasses are dishwasher-safe and make great wedding/housewarming/holiday gifts. Especially if you wrap them up with some good beer.
When we heard about the 5 year diary, we had to order several copies to give as gifts. The diary is a clothbound, hardcover book that lets you keep track of your life with just a few lines every day for 5 years. Each page of the diary is devoted to one day of the year and subdivided into 5 sections (one for each of 5 years). So as you're writing what happened on... more

"Naked shoes for naked people." That's how Terra Plana describes their Dopie thong sandals, even though the models wearing the sandals are fully dressed. The company set out to create the most minimal footwear possible. The result is this sandal, made out of recycled materials, that molds to your foot. There's one piece that folds up between your toes to provide control, and apparently the strap is "optional." Dopies come in men's and women's... more
"Real men wear goatees," say the people behind the GoateeSaver, a new shaving device that helps men with daily grooming. The GoateeSaver is not a razor. It is a plastic mouthpiece. You bite down on the orange tabs in the back, adjust the mouthpiece so that it covers all the facial hair you want to keep, and then just shave around it. It sounds like a fast and easy way to get a perfectly... more
We don't normally get excited about mundane things like hand soap, and we know practically nothing about flowers, but this weekend we visited a friend and discovered a bottle of Mrs. Meyer's geranium liquid hand soap in his bathroom. It smelled so good we wanted to drink it. The company's web site says you can use it on your entire body, not just your hands. Mrs. Meyer, if you are reading this, please make... more

If you like stories about vampires, werewolves, and high school love, check out this series. Or be lazy like us and wait for the movie versions. Twilight hits theaters December 12th.
We groaned out loud when we heard that Converse had released a "grunge collection." We thought, are designers so creatively tapped out that they need to bring back a trend from the early '90s already? Is Courtney Love having trouble paying her legal bills again? But it turns out "grunge" just means "plaid" in the case of these Chuck Taylors. Some styles have plaid exteriors, while others use solid colors with plaid linings. We... more
How cool - or hot - is this LED shower light? It's an attachment for your shower head. When you turn the water on, the light shines blue. Once the water gets up to 89 degrees, the light turns red. All you need now is a disco ball. Anyway, the light doesn't require any special tools to install, fits a standard shower pipe, and might just make you want to take showers in... more

Hey Heroes fans, did you know Mezco makes Heroes action figures? The first series includes 7" articulated versions of Hiro Nakamura, Peter Petrelli, Claire Bennett, Sylar, and Mohinder Suresh, all with plot-appropriate accessories (Claire comes with an alternate damaged head and alternate damaged arm). If the show continues to win Emmy awards, we're thinking these figures could be worth something someday. Then again, we thought the same thing about our Spice Girls action figures.... more
We just found out about this Barack Obama action figure. It doesn't talk, but it does have 8 points of articulation so you can "pose him presidentially." We'd like to see a companion Michelle Obama figure, so we could pose them together doing the "terrorist fist jab." (Speaking of which, check out the latest New Yorker cover.) If you're a McCain supporter, sit tight: The McCain action figure hits stores next month.
Sometimes when given a choice of A or B, you pick C. For example, our answer to "Who's better, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones?" is "The Who." And now, when someone asks you "Paper or plastic?" you should reply, "I brought my own." But if you don't already have a pile of ugly canvas tote bags left over from conferences, we suggest using Envirosax. These cute, waterproof bags hold up to 44 pounds... more
