Griffin Evolve Wireless Speaker System
Expansive sound from a compact footprint. The Griffin Evolve is a wireless iPod speaker system with 3 parts: A charging base and two 5.5" cube-shaped speakers, each with its own on/off switch, that can be moved up to 150 feet away from the base station, so you can put them wherever you want and get real stereo sound. MTV.com says "If you're looking for a simple yet effective and incredibly designed wireless speaker system,... more
Portable Bose SoundDock
If you liked the Bose SoundDock, you might be interested in Bose's smaller, portable SoundDock. It's 12" wide, 6.75" high, and 4" thick (but still delivers Bose-quality sound), with a rechargeable battery and a molded handle that makes it easy to carry the 5-pound speaker from place to place. You can use it with your iPhone, any iPod with a click wheel, or other audio source (via the auxiliary input). But it's not cheap.... more
Griffin Amplifi Speaker System
Griffin just announced several new speaker systems, including the Amplifi, which has an iPod dock on top, but accepts audio input from almost any source through its built-in 3.5mm (1/8") jack. The two 2.75" neodymium drivers and 5" down-firing woofer will fill a room with surprisingly good sound, and the Amplifi's footprint is so small that you can fit it almost anywhere. We like the big round volume knob too.
Altec Lansing InMotion iM7
Before you plunk down $300 for the Bose SoundDock, take a look at the new Altec Lansing inMotion iM7 iPod speaker. Plug it in at home, or run it on batteries on the road. It provides excellent sound, and the video output function lets you display your iPod Photo albums on a TV. (Dock-connecting iPod not included). All this for about $50 less than the SoundDock.
